The Lime Capital

Students will learn about the history and development of the quarry industry in the Beachville area. They will understand the benefits of using natural resources, like limestone, in producing products we use daily. Students will examine how the development of machinery and the mining process has harmed the environment by digging deep underground. They will learn how quarrying has affected the environment by focusing on deforestation and pollution, thus understanding human activity’s impact on the local environment. Students will think critically about how they can help protect the environment for the future and form a sense of belonging in the places they reside in.
