Why Mackay Still Matters In Taiwan

Nearly 120 years after his death, Zorra-born missionary George Leslie Mackay is still revered as a folk hero in Taiwan. His powerful legacy includes religion, education and health care delivered through a network of trained Taiwanese people. He is now considered an icon of Taiwanese nationalism. Dr. Stainton was himself a missionary in Taiwan for 11 years and is founder and secretary of the Canadian Mackay Committee. Seating is limited.
