Heritage Presentation Series "Open for business" -The Early Economies of the Beachville District

Presented by Dr. Stephanie Radu, BDM Curator

On-line (ZOOM) presentation hosted FREE of charge for all district residents over 50 years of age by the Ingersoll 50+ Activity Centre. (You do NOT need a Centre membership for this presentation)

This presentation highlights the many businesses of the Beachville District in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century – the blacksmith shops and tanneries, hotels, barber shops, general stores and banks. It describes how these commercial operations were established, what services they offered to customers, and how entwined they were as a sector. Drawing on maps, historic receipts and other archival materials from the Beachville District Museum’s collection, this presentation offers a glimpse of the ways businesses were run, how they thrived and when they closed up shop for good.

Reserve through the Ingersoll 50+ Centre by calling 519-485-3869 or info@ingersollseniors.com
