Beachville District Museum is looking for a professional and task-oriented Collections Manager (C.M.) to coordinate exhibitions, lead cataloguing projects and assist with collections storage upgrades.

Start Date: May 6th, 2024

End Date: August 26, 2024

Hours: 35 hours per week (9:00am-4:00pm, Monday through Friday)

Reporting to the curator, the C.M.’s primary responsibilities are to:

-assist the curator with the development of exhibits and seasonal programs

-assist the curator with daily operational tasks (record keeping, risk assessments, research requests, etc.)

-undertake inventorying and cataloguing projects as assigned

-assist the curator with collections storage upgrades (i.e. re-housing artifacts, surveying available storage space, etc.)

The ideal candidate:

-holds a degree in museum studies, history, conservation, cultural studies or a related field

-has experience working with museum collections

-has an interest in working in the museum field/heritage sector

-is responsible, organized and self-motivated

-meets the eligibility criteria for the Canada Summer Jobs program

-has a reliable mode of transportation

Beachville is situated in the Thames River Valley between Ingersoll and Woodstock, just thirty (30) minutes east of London. The village originally developed around the limestone industry and the railroad, and became a central hub of Oxford County.

Beachville District Museum is supported through a joint funding agreement between Zorra Township, South-West Oxford Township and the Beachville District Historical Society.
